Best Drawing Apps iPhone, iOs and iPad
Young children are always looking forward to catching our iPhone or our iPad to spend time playing or watching videos online. But there is another thing that children love to do and that they can also do from an iOS device: draw. In addition, when doing it on the iPad, you will have the peace of mind that you will not decide to leave the paper to happen to do it on the table or the wall of the room, a classic of our childhood. But since in Apple’s AppStore there are hundreds of applications to draw, we’re going to help you and we’ve found the best ones for you to try.
The following applications are not intended for use by young children exclusively. If you are looking for an app with which you can make simple drawings without complex menus , you will love them. But if instead you fall short or want more, I invite you to read this article on the best apps for graphic design in iOS, where you will find applications with more advanced tools to get more out of Apple Pencil for example.
Have Fun with these Apps to Draw on iOS
As we always say, we recommend you take a look at each of the following applications before opting for one, as all stand out among those that can be found in the AppStore but it is a personal matter of each prefer one or the other, for example the interface or because it offers some functionality that interests you in particular.
Drawing Desk: Draw & Paint Art
It is the only application on the list that is clearly aimed at children , since all the elements of its design have a certain childlike aspect and for example when we are drawing, with each stroke a sound is heard to stimulate their creativity. We have four different sections to draw: two where we can color simple or more complex figures, another where we will have a blank canvas and finally one where we can draw and edit an image or photograph that we have in our gallery.
Depending on which section we choose, we can have up to 10 different brushes to choose from , among which are included in addition to the classics such as pencil or marker, a special wax that will draw with shapes like hearts, stars or clubs. The only bad thing I could get to Desktop is that although it is a free app you have to pay to remove the ads that appear on the top of the canvas. At least all the brushes and functions are free.
One of the most popular drawing applications of the AppStore with Tayasui Sketches. It stands out especially for its interface, very careful while intuitive. It focuses exclusively on offering the best possible drawing experience without distractions : we will have our drawing pads that we will organize as we wish and when we get down to work, all the tools will be found in a dock at the bottom of the canvas.
As an extra feature to highlight, Paper offers the possibility to connect the Pencil FiftyThree Pencil that they sell, with which we can draw more comfortably and on any device, without needing an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil. We also have the option to pay a subscription to unlock all functions, but with the free version we will have more than enough.
A veteran application with many years behind them and prizes as one of the best applications to drawon our iPhone or iPad. In general we could say that it looks a lot like Paper, since it stands out in offering also a minimalist interface and that is based on the same elements: drawing blocks within which we will find our canvas to draw, which unlike Paper will have the brushes and tools placed on the left side of the screen.
The free version offers everything enough to make all kinds of drawings, but if you want more, we can buy the Pro version for 5.99 euros that adds more settings for the brushes, possibility of working with more layers, as well as other things. It may not be the most recommended app for a child since its excessively minimalist interface makes it not very intuitive. But if you are looking for an app to draw, it is certainly a very important option to consider.
From the same team in charge of Tayasui Sketches we have Memopad, an app that seeks to offer the maximum simplicity and speed possible. If you want an application with which to make drawings without complicate and then share them quickly, no doubt Memopad is the best you’ll find in the AppStore.
In Memopad we forget about drawing pads, folders and menus. Open the app and directly appear the canvas prepared with all the tools less than a touch away. In the free version we will have less brushes and colors available, but if we pay 2.99 euros we will unlock everything. A perfect app if you are looking for a canvas on which to draw for any need you have or to give the phone or iPad to your child and to start drawing directly without getting lost between the menus.
Finally, we have the proposal of some experts in terms of drawing: Wacom. With this application they offer a very complete and intuitive tool in which to gather not only our drawings but also our personal annotations. Like the rest of similar apps, our drawings are organized in different blocks that we can customize both their color and exterior texture, although some are for payment.
As with the FiftyThree Paper case, here we can also use some of the optical pencils from the Bamboo firm that Wacom makes to draw more comfortably and accurately, even if we do not have an iPad Pro. We are offered free of charge only a pencil and a marker as drawing tools, we will have to pay to unlock the rest. But at least we have the advantage that we will not find advertising that bothers our drawing experience whether we want to pay or not.
